a few good posts…
You might be wondering where we went! I just realized there have been no new posts on the NVA Blog since the end of February. The lights are still on for sure, we have been heads-down on a few new projects. In the meantime, there are a few good blog posts worth sharing today.
Ask the VC has 2 posts that caught my eye. The first one is about locations for startups. As an entrepeneur and investor living in Boulder, CO this is a hot topic at the bar. Some of the west coast VCs look at areas like Boulder-Denver as “secondary markets” and are not all that enthused. I think this is a hot area personally and am really bullish on the amount of activity and talent here. It’s all about the area being a good fit for the project/technology/talent. The Ask the VC crew explain it much better here. Choosing to live somewhere where lifestyle and quality-of-life are as important as professional opporuntities can be a big deal. This quote from the article sums it up…
“Don’t worry about it: Presumably you live where you want to live. If you don’t, consider moving! However, if you are where you want to be, realize that building your business – and your life – go hand in hand”
The other post is about investing in friends (link here). If you do ANY angel investing or simply have enterprising friends this will come up as some point. Great perspective…
Finally, here’s a cool post that talks to the “new school” (read: anti-enterprise) of web application development from Kathy Sierra that boils down the value of short development cycles. Brainstorm courtesy of her myspace-addicted daughter. (link here)
Stay tuned…
