Desi Hits! gets funded by Trident and DFJ

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

dh screen shotDesi Hits!, an NVA client company, recently closed its Series A funding round lead by Trident Capital and Draper Fisher Jurvetson(DFJ). Desi Hits! is a South Asian entertainment and lifestyle portal. I blogged about them recently as they launched an exciting new website earlier this year. The company is up to some very exciting things and already has a strong brand and a rapidly growing community. They are taking the Desi scene by storm, so keep an eye out.

Here’s a snippet from the PRWeb release (full release here)
“Unveiling a new website this month, rich in aggregated and original content, Desi Hits! brings together the “best of” internet technologies. The online community can watch exclusive celebrity interviews, music videos and streaming clips; listen to live and archived podcasts spinning the latest tracks by established and emerging artists; get the scoop via a variety of talk shows; read feature articles and artist profiles; interact on blogs and forums; even host their own show; also integrated into the programming is a platform that spotlights select up-and-coming talent.”

It has been an exciting ride for the company so far, starting out as a blogger.com site that grew and grew beyond expectations. Anjula and Ranj have a phenomenal eye for Desi entertainment and found a way to bring that to life in the form of podcasts and vidcasts! Check out the site, and stay tuned as the content is updated constantly!

Congrats to Anjula and Ranj on the funding and the success to date!

NVA client DesiHits.com launches new site

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

I am pleased to announce that an NVA client, Desihits.com, has just launched dh logotheir new website. The team has been working hard on this site for quite a while and its very cool.

What’s a desi you ask? A “Desi” is a term used to describe south-asians typically living outside of India. The founders, Anjula and Ranj Bath, (desis themselves of course) have a great eye and ear for talent and trends in the desi scene and have created an online magazine that brings together the latest in music and lifestyle for “the modern day desi”. They get their hands on pretty cool exclusive content and some of the Indian-infused hip-hop mash-ups are wicked. The company has a presence in Santa Clara, CA. and in the UK (London).

Stormlab, LLC. of Boulder, CO partnered with DesiHits on the site development.

Congrats to the entire DesiHits.com team for getting the new site launched. What a way to start 2007!

NVA in the news

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

We had a nice article written on the company in the August 18th edition of the Boulder County Business Review. You can find an online version here for a limited time, or download the PDF reprint for a much better read. If you are a Boulder local and get the paper, turn to page 22A. Thanks to Dave Clukas and the BCBR for including NVA in the paper!
